Workshops

Instrument-focused workshops led by experienced instructors, with options for beginner to advanced players.

What is a Workshop?

Spend a week immersed in bluegrass and old-time music alongside others who share your passion. NimbleFingers workshops offer a welcoming, non-competitive space for players of all levels—from beginners to advanced—within a vibrant, music-filled community.

Each day balances focused instruction with plenty of time to play. Alongside your core workshop, you’ll find electives, organized jam sessions, and lots of spontaneous moments that make each week uniquely its own.

Workshop weeks begin on Sunday:

  • Registration opens at 1:00 p.m. (accommodations available by 4 p.m.)

  • Orientation at 4:15 p.m.

The Student Concert on Thursday night is the last big hurrah....then jamming into the wee hours of the night! Friday morning, there will be an organized good-bye jam as we get packed up and say our goodbyes.

Workshops are organized by instrument and playing level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) and are led by experienced instructors. Participants meet with their workshop group each morning for 2 hours, and again each afternoon for a 1-hour session.

Choosing the right level is key to getting the most from your week. While it can be tempting to select a workshop based on a favourite instructor, the best growth happens when the level feels right. If you’re unsure, our Workshop Level Guidelines can help.

Most participants register for a workshop, but a Picker & Grinner option is also available for those who want to be part of the NimbleFingers experience without attending a daily workshop.
