Meals and accommodations are booked separately through Sorrento Centre and are not included in workshop registration. Once registered, you’ll receive information on how to book meals and lodging directly with the Centre.
Yes—with a few important considerations. NimbleFingers does not offer a a specific children’s program, and all workshops are taught in a multi-age, adult-focused environment. Youth participants should be comfortable learning independently in this setting and have a solid grasp of their instrument. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult. If you’re considering bringing a student under 14, please contact us to discuss whether NimbleFingers is the right fit.
NimbleFingers is a closed workshop environment. For the comfort, safety, and flow of the program, drop-ins and unregistered visitors are not permitted on site during the workshop weeks. If you have questions or special circumstances, please reach out—we’re happy to talk things through.
Sorrento Centre does allow pets in designated areas and accommodations; however, we strongly encourage participants to leave pets at home if possible. With workshops, concerts, and lots of foot traffic, it can be challenging to manage pets onsite. Please review our Pet Policy carefully before bringing an animal.
In most cases, yes. If you find that your selected workshop isn’t quite the right fit, speak with our team right away. We’ll do our best to accommodate changes where space allows, but availability in another class cannot be guaranteed.
Choosing the right level is one of the best ways to ensure a great week. We recommend reviewing our Guidelines for Workshop Levels, which include descriptions and checklists to help you decide. While it can be tempting to choose a class based on a favourite instructor, most participants have the best experience when their class matches their current playing level.
Our beginner-level workshops assume you already have some basic familiarity with your instrument—how to hold it, tune it, and play a few simple notes or chords. If you’re brand new, we recommend taking a few lessons or working with online resources before coming to camp. That said, if you’re keen and motivated, start practicing now! A little preparation goes a long way in helping you get the most out of your NimbleFingers experience.
Yes. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we can help connect you with rental options or have an instrument ready when you arrive. Advance notice is essential, so please reach out as early as possible.
The Festival Weekend Pass is only available to workshop registrants. It provides site access at the Sorrento Centre from Friday through Sunday and includes all programming: Honky-Tonk Dance, Festival Ticket, All-Day/All-Night Jamming, and Gospel Hour on Sunday Morning.
Friday night there is a Honky-Tonk Dinner where most folks dress up in their boots and western finery before heading off to the dance. This is an optional meal and a ticket is required ($30/person contact Sorrento Centre before June 12th to add it on to your reservation).
Accommodations for this weekend fill up super fast (and our workshop weeks) so be sure to book early!
If you’re attending only the festival, separate festival-day tickets will be available soon.
Important to note: There are no overnight camping options or accommodations on or around the Sorrento Centre property, except for registered NimbleFinger's workshop registrants. There are a variety of accommodation choices in the area for those joining us for the one-day festival.
A Picker & Grinner is someone who wants to be part of the NimbleFingers community without attending a daily workshop. Picker & Grinners can participate in jams, afternoon drop-in workshops, evening concerts, community activities, and the overall camp experience—just not a main daytime workshop.
You’ll want to bring your instrument, accessories (capo, picks, tuner, spare strings, etc.), a music stand if you use one, and anything you need for note-taking or recording (notebook, phone, recording device). Comfortable clothing, walking shoes, and layers for changing weather are also recommended.
If you’re unsure about anything—workshops, levels, registration, accommodations, or whether NimbleFingers is the right fit—we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch, and we’ll help you find the information you need.
