Intermediate Bluegrass Fiddle

Let’s get some fiddling done! Over the week we will examine the giants of the genre and dissect what it means to play bluegrass fiddle! We will examine solos and key licks that are cornerstone to the style, as well as double stops, blues, slides and how to create your own solos around the melody. We will explore the fiddlers of bluegrass past so we can get a real strong understanding of back up and the archetypal role of the fiddle in a band or jam setting.

Matt Hotte

Adrossan, Alberta, born and raised Matt Hotte began playing fiddle at 4 years old and mandolin at 10and he's never looked back! From a very young age, he has been a lover of traditional bluegrass music and music history.

At the age of 15, Matt started touring with the Liberty Bluegrass Boys (Texas), playing banjo. He later toured with The Gillis Brothers, and then with Lost Highway (California) playing fiddle for 2 years.

He's an extremely talented musician and teacher, and we're always glad to have him back! Matt also plays with sister Kayla Hotte.
