Pickin’ Party FAQ’s

Registration

How does registration work?

  • All the registration details and costs can be found here.

Why are we selling by the room?

  • The HBI has a limited capacity, and we need to fill every spot to both break even and have a good party. Instead of having people register as individuals and then try to piece together the sleeping arrangements, we are asking people to “buy a room” and “find their roommates.”

Is there a waitlist?

  • Yes! We will maintain a waitlist once the spots are filled. If we sell out, we anticipate that there might be one or two groups that find accommodations offsite. We will contact waitlisted people if spots become available, but also please let us know if you find other accommodations.

Pet Policy?

  • Pets are not encouraged but are definitely welcome. The cost is $30 for the weekend. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Please indicate on your registration form that you have a pet, and then pay the HBI directly at check in.

Can I only come for one night and how much would that cost? Or can I pay just a daytime fee?

  • We are not offering single day passes, or daytime passes. This is a full weekend event!

Is it possible to attend the Pickin party without accommodation?

  • Yes! If you are staying offsite you can purchase your pass here

What if I need to cancel? Do I get a refund?

Can I sleep in my vehicle?

  • Only if you are in a registered RV campsite. You will not be allowed to sleep in your vehicle in the parking lot or any nearby streets, etc. This will be monitored

The Weekend

Is it okay to use an instrument with amplification?

  • NimbleFingers provides an environment centred in the acoustic traditions in bluegrass, old-time, and adjacent genres. Amplification can change the nature of a jam, and we ask that you consider an alternative instrument. If you require amplification for creative or accessibility reasons, please reach out to advance these needs and discuss how to make this work for you.

Who’s Coming from NimbleFingers crew?

  • Kelly Sherwin, Peter Mynett and Tanya Guenther will be there! Steve Roy, Program Director might make a brief appearance via zoom zoom from his home in Maine.

Will there be artists?

  • There may be some local artists registered, however they will be coming for the same reason as you, to hang out and jam

Are there any workshops?

  • Nothing solidly planned. Yet there will be some time carved out on Saturday afternoon for some activities. Got a great idea? Want to lead a session? Reach out and let us know.
