Advanced Mandolin
This (intermediate/advanced) bluegrass mandolin class will dive into rewarding mandolin tunes while developing the techniques that bring them to life. Students will expand their command of double stops, cross-picking, and fretboard navigation to build both speed and precision. We’ll break down improvisation strategies used by top players, giving you the tools to craft solos with confidence and style and help you get to the next level in your playing.
David Benedict
David Benedict is a Grammy-nominated mandolinist and educator known for his clear, thoughtful approach to mandolin playing and ensemble musicianship. A former member of Mile Twelve (IBMA New Artist of the Year), David has toured internationally and recorded extensively as both a band member and solo artist. He is the creator of the long-running Mandolin Mondays series and produces highly regarded online lessons and transcriptions used by mandolin players worldwide. David now lives in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he teaches full-time and performs with his wife Tabitha in their transatlantic folk project, The Foreign Landers.
