
Intermediate Rhythm Guitar
In this intermediate level class we will cover fundamental techniques as well as discuss ways to unlock your own creativity within rhythm playing in old-time and bluegrass. This course can and will cover BOTH old-time and bluegrass styles of music as well as other vintage guitar styles. We are going to talk about and discover the drive time-feel of different sub genres and the “why” of different techniques of some of the greats. We are going to dive into ideas both practical and conceptual to unlock your potential as a rhythm player as a creative.
Patrick Hamilton
Don’t let his low-key demeanor fool you; Patrick “Patty” Hamilton is a tour de force of a musician. Apart from guitar pickin’, Patty also frequents the clawhammer banjo and drums, bringing with insistent creative drive to each. Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, and raised by professional musicians, Patty has spent a lifetime refining his guitar craft. As a committed student and educator, he is looking forward to sharing his special insights on Vintage Oldtime and Bluegrass rhythm styles, unconventional runs, banjo styles and some of the processes involved in creating one's own creative style.
