Advanced Flatpick
Explore techniques to help you take better breaks and learn new tunes with less resistance. Want to be able to take a solo or at least know where to start even if you have never played the song?
The most advanced, keep it simple..
We will be working on keeping your picking hand in the right orientation. Playing by ear, playing out of chord shapes. How to embody a melody and how to start to incorporate new ideas like cross picking, folding scales, and even singing our lines. We’re going to find ways to get more connected to the guitar so we can be more expressive.
Joe Suskind
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Joe grew up in a musical family. Joe won and lost his first paycheck as a child roadie for his father’s country band. Winning by being small enough to hang stage lights in barn rafters, and losing at the ease of breaking neon beer signs. He swore off country music as a teenager but still played guitar and has been playing ever since.
As falls the apple, Joe could not escape the music of his youth and has been writing songs, singing and playing bluegrass music for the past 10 years. He is an aggressive flat picker and prolific songwriter. He has been a teacher and is always a student of the music he has now, not reluctantly, accepted as his own.
