Intermediate Clawhammer
Let's explore clawhammer banjo! We'll start by firming up our skills in the basics, then explore right-hand techniques that will create new textures, emphasize different beats, and give you the possibility of supporting the melody in new ways. We'll learn about tone and ergonomics to get the most out of your playing. We'll also talk about jamming and how to support the "groove" of a jam by making the most of the banjo's unique place between rhythm and melody.
Students will get the most out of this class if they are comfortable with the basic "bum-ditty" strumming pattern, are familiar with standard "G tuning" and "Double C tuning," and can easily change between the 1, 4, and 5 chords.
