Intermediate Flatpick
Flatpicking Step-By-Step: This class will cover the Fundamentals of Bluegrass-style Flatpicking & Rhythm Guitar, working through a fun and practical set of stepping stones that will help you make the most of your practice time and push your playing to the next level. We will cover the lead and rhythm parts for standard songs and tunes, building our bluegrass repertoire & working up some hot guitar breaks along the way. Jamming guidance will also be provided.
This class will be taught by ear whenever possible, and tablature & standard notation will be provided for reference. A portable recording device is highly recommended for capturing examples.
What to bring to class: Acoustic guitar (preferably steel-string), a pick, a tuner and a capo.
Tyler Grant
Tyler Grant is a National Flatpicking Champion and internationally recognized guitarist, songwriter, and educator. A former member of the Emmitt-Nershi Band & Grant Farm, he has toured extensively as a solo artist and worked as a sideman for artists including Billy Failing, Abigail Washburn, April Verch, and Drew Emmitt. Tyler has appeared at major festivals worldwide, released multiple solo and band albums, and is a frequent contributor to leading guitar publications. An award-winning flatpicker and highly sought-after instructor, he teaches through his online Flatpicking Academy at ArtistWorks and at workshops and camps around the world, bringing a deep love of tradition, rhythm, and musical storytelling to his teaching.
