Intermediate Banjo
Intermediate banjo will build on your fundamental techniques. We'll discuss our role in a jam or band context, how to support our fellow musicians by playing good backup, and ideas for soloing. We’ll explore the importance of rhythmic groove and “drive.” I strive to provide you with the conceptual knowledge you’ll need to grow as a banjo picker, through concrete examples that you can take home and practice and then apply to any song or tune you’re learning. Above all, let's have fun and learn together!
Miles Zurawell
Miles Zurawell is a dobroist and banjoist hailing from Ardrossan, Alberta. He cut his teeth in bluegrass with the likes of IBMA award winning vocalist Greg Blake, Montana songwriter John Lowell, and fiddler Blaine Sprouse. His own music, found on his debut record Far Afield, is an exploration of diverse fiddle tunes and slide music on the dobro and banjo. He also tours the world with Canadian songwriting troubadour Zachary Lucky. He has an ever-growing list of collaborations, and has made a mission in life to beg the question “Will it Dobro?"
